Penal Code Section 632

Our review of the annotated history reveals the following legislative history (every “c.” below represents a separate legislative bill):

Prior History:
•  Former Penal Code § 653h, added 1941, c. 525
•  Former Penal Code § 653j, added 1963, c. 1886
Current:
Added: 1967, c. 1509
Amended:
•  1976, c. 1139: in subdivision (a) in the first sentence, deleted “not exceeding three years” following “in the state prison” and in the second sentence deleted “not exceeding five years” following “in the state prison.”
•  1985, c. 909: inserted reference to § 632.5 in subdivision (a); and made nonsubstantive amendments in subdivisions (a), (c) and (e).
•  1990, c. 696: in subdivision (a), added “632.6” to the list of sections.
•  1992, c. 298: in subdivision (a), in the provisions relating to a previous conviction under specified sections added “632.7” to the list; and made other nonsubstantive changes.
•  1994, c. 1010: made technical changes to conform with enactment of the California Limited Liability Company Act.
•  2016, c. 855: Made changes throughout section
