Civil Code Section 1786.50

Our review of the annotated history reveals the following legislative history (every “c.” below represents a separate legislative bill):

Added: 1975, c. 1272
•   1998, c. 988: made nonsubstantive changes throughout the section; and substituted “$2,500” for “$300”.
•   2001, c. 354: in subdivision (a), inserted “In addition to the penalty specified in Section 1786.20”; and in subdivision (a)(1), substituted “ten thousand dollars ($10,000), whichever sum is greater.” for “two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), whichever sum is greater and”.
•   2002, c. 1029: in subdivision (a), substituted “An” for “In additional to the penalty specified in Section 1786.20, any”, and inserted “, except for the requirements of Section 1786.20,”.
•   2003, c. 146: in subdivision (a), deleted “except for the requirements of Section 1786.20,” following “under this title”.
